Applying Methods

Prerequisite Course Required: Participants must take Fundamentals of Public Participation prior to attending this course. 

Applying Methods focuses on exploring a variety of methods used to successfully implement meaningful public participation and engagement processes. This training focuses examining how to design and integrate methods to achieve measurable objectives. Participants will learn to select, assess and create effective elements of methods to work meaningfully with participants. Methods can be applied to a virtual, in-person or hybrid setting. After this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and select public participation engagement methods that are meaningful
  • Design and implement a diverse set of methods that reflect different levels of influence and needs of stakeholders
  • Coordinate public participation engagement activities as outlined in a project plan to meet specific success criteria, timelines, and budget
  • Apply a variety of tools and tactics that communicate ideas and technical information in stories, and images
  • Direct the development of visual materials that depict ideas, concepts and information in images, video, graphics to suit a range of audiences

This course consists of four - 4 hour live virtual sessions. Sessions will be held on March 26th, March 27th, March 28th and March 29th from 12:00 to 4:00 ET.
